That’s my boy!

I’m sitting at the computer goofing around with some photos I took of Sweetie.  And I’m listening to KUSC during their pledge drive.  Snippets of music float through the air and the focus is on John Williams, the guy who made Indiana Jones a classic by composing some of the most rousing music in the movies.  And then Itzhak Perlman plays that haunting melody from Schindler’s list.  You know, the one that brings back sad memories.  Taken as a whole, it’s a spirit lifting experience.

With nothing better to do than let my mind wander, I think about Mitt Romney’s recent boast of being one of the saviors of America’s automobile industry and wonder when he’ll claim to be the father of the Internet.

I check my home page and see a headline about same sex marriage and Obama.  I click on the New York Times  and read. . .Obama Endorses Same Sex Marriage. . .With Nation Split, Calls It a Personal Conviction.

What a gutsy thing.  What an honorable thing.  What a difference.  Now what, Mitt?

I think we may have Biden to thank for getting “our boy” off the fence, but it sure feels good that he finally has done so.

do you really believe that marriage is a civil right? on the same level as discrimination in housing or emplyoment? shouldn’t the issue be localized or is this a federal right in which one law applies to all? don’t we have better thigns to worry about, like universal health care as a right? isn’t this an issue of the elite, and not of the poor? why are we wasting so much energy?

The march to equality is inevitable as it was with slavery, sufferage, and the civil rights movement. I too am proud my President has taken a stand.

The Romney campaign just released their counter-initiative:

    “Equal-ish rights for most!”

I don’t know, it just seems to resonate with me. Sorta.

Our local editorial cartoonist is one of my favorites. Here’s his latest — http://www.startribune.com/opinion/150861375.html — now we just need our fellow Minnesotans to be presidential come November and vote no on the question: shall the Minnesota constitution be amended to define marriage as between one man and one woman?
